Ala
Moana Hotel
Honolulu, Hawaii The
construction utilized special precast concrete "column
tree" frames supporting precast slabs. Dr. Yee's
patented NMB Splice Sleeve mechanical couplers were
used to join the "column trees" together to
develop a monolithic structure. This system allowed
crews to erect one complete 1684 square meter (18,120
sq. ft.) floor every 2 1/2 days. The hotel consists
of a 38-story tower with 960 rooms and a 13-story wing
with 308 rooms.
