Challenge: |
A non‐load bearing marble and glass lobby level are set below the main mass of the building which spans from corner column to corner column. |
Solution: |
Precast elements were joined together to create an exterior wall system acting as an understated, 19‐story precast concrete Vierendeel wall truss, spanning from corner column to corner column. This provided an economical yet visually spectacular means of lifting the bulk of the building 40 ft. (12.2 m) above its plaza. Alfred Yee’s patented Splice Sleeves were used to connect the precast elements. |
