Regency at Hualalai Retirement and Assisted Living

Project Details:

129 residential units, dining facilities, recreation areas, and care facilities.

Challenge:

Structure was designed to meet Seismic Zone 4 forces under UBC 97.

Solution:

Structural elements consisted of precast shear walls, columns and pre-tensioned beam soffits, floor planks and stairs.

Results:

Construction started in June 2000 and structural portion was completed in Feb 2001. Using precast framing system shortened construction period by at least 4 months in comparison with conventional cast-in-situ construction. Total construction cost was US $11.5 million.

The structure sustained the powerful 6.7-magnitude earthquake on October 15, 2006 without any reported damage.
