Project Location: |
Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, USA |
Project Scope: |
Structural Engineering and Construction Engineering |
Project Details: |
Hangar was required to accommodate two B-2 Bombers (“Stealth” Bombers). The Hangar is completely air-conditioned. |
Challenge: |
Design to resist seismic Zone 4 earthquake load and 170 MPH wind load To minimize on-site casting work, speed construction and use least amount of material (concrete and rebar) |
Results: |
From past experience 55% savings in concrete and 40% savings in rebar are achieved using the precast folded plate roof system in comparison with conventional design using cast-in-situ concrete. Total Construction Cost: US$32.8 million (completed in 2005) |
Awards: |
